Dear Hermie,

I enjoy reading your column, Hermie, and I hope you can help me out. I run a small AV company (small being just me and my partner, and we do all of the installs ourselves). We make a decent living selling and installing systems in homes and small businesses, but we’re at a turning point. We’re busy all the time, but lately, we’re getting a lot of inbound referrals and requests, especially from local businesses asking about teleconferencing equipment and setting up meeting rooms for remote workers as they now engage more with their own customers and employees remotely. Truth is, we really don’t want to staff up, as who knows how long this demand will last. And if I’m honest, my partner and I like doing the work we’re doing and are not really interested in taking on the time and effort to hire, train, and manage a team. We like things lean and mean, and we’re very hands-on. That said, I feel like we’re missing a big opportunity to take on the incoming business, right, Hermie?

We don’t have the time to do the work ourselves, and we don’t want to grow our overhead and complicate our nice setup, but we’d love the new business. Got any ideas, Hermie?
