Ask Hermie

Ask Hermie: Egad! I need CAD!

Hermie is the consummate AV Professional, having lurked behind the scenes at Herman Pro AV and Herman Integration Services for years. When it comes to the professional audiovisual business, Hermie walks the walk and talks the talk. In fact, he doesn’t just talk about AV stuff until he’s blue in the face, he’s done it so much he’s blue all over! So, if you have a burning AV question, just “Ask Hermie!”

Dear Hermie,

We’re a busy integrator in the Greater St. Louis area. We have a great team of talented and experienced AV pros, but when it comes to new business, we often find ourselves stalled! Lately, we’ve had many requests for jobs requiring engineering and programming skills my team just doesn’t have. While these requests represent good growth opportunities for us, there aren’t enough of them to justify hiring or training for such specialization. Also, one of the requests that require some CAD work is from one of our best regular clients, and I’m worried we risk losing their ongoing business if we can’t grow as their needs grow. Hermie, can you help???

Stalled in St. Louis

Dear Stalled,

No worries, Hermie is here to help. I’m glad to show you the easiest way to add CAD and other skills to your team without incurring heavy overhead, hiring, or training costs. When I was starting out in the AV Industry, I was pretty green, even though my skin is blue. I had a customer ask me if I did any engineering. I said “Engineering? I’ve never even been on a train; how could I be an Engineer?” After I got choo chewed out for that remark, I quickly learned about all the different programming and other skills that are needed in the AV world. But I couldn’t do it all myself… So, I reached out to my friends at Herman Integration Services who were able to provide me with proven engineering, design, and programming services on a project-by-project basis, whenever I needed those skills to complete a job. With Herman on my team, I may be short in stature, but I am never short on skills or resources. (Full disclosure, now I am on Herman’s payroll!)

And Herman offers their services nationwide, so you no longer have to be “Stalled in St. Louis!” Give Herman a call and tell ’em Hermie sent you!
